Order Sphenisciformes; Family Spheniscidae (penguins); Scientific name: Eudyptula minor; Common name: Little Penguin; Alternative common name: Fairy Penguin – Little Penguin returning to shore to feed the chicks in nests at night  - Distribution in Australia: coasts and offshore islands of southern Australia from Penguin Island off Rockingham in Western Australia, along South Australian and Victorian coast, and all around Tasmania and islands of the Bass Strait to about Maitland north of Newcastle in New South Wales; Distribution outside Australia: coasts of New Zealand and Chatham Island.
