Common name: Bee Fly – Female - Description: Thorax black fringed terminally with appressed ginger-coloured indumentum; scutellum black rimmed with ginger-coloured indumentum; collar of long ginger-coloured hairs; abdomen starting with broad black band, continuing with well defined white one, than two broad black bands rimmed with narrow ginger-coloured bands; the terminal half starts with white band and finishes with broader black bands rimmed with narrower ginger-coloured bands; facial hairs between eyes black intermixed with some grey ending well in front of ocelli; wings hyaline save for the coastal cell and associated veins being tinged brown - Distribution in Australia: Western Australia – Photographed: in November, in Peak Charles National Park north-west of Esperance.
