Common name: Bee Fly – Description: a fly with almost uniformly black thorax and scutellum except for the diffused, dorso-lateral bronzy stripe; abdomen with three broad, black bands divided by erect, white hairs; four terminal thorax segments predominantly white; collar with light brown and white hairs; facial hairs on frons dark brown intermixed with black; wings clear with brown tinge and dark brown costal cells and associated veins - Distribution in Australia: Western Australia – Photographed: in August, in Karara Rangelands Reserve in Midwest Region east of Morawa.
