Order Ciconiiformes; Family Threskiornithidae (Ibises & Spoonbills); Scientific name: Plegadis falcinellus; Common name: Glossy Ibis - Distribution in Australia: present in all mainland states and territories, mostly in the north, east, and south-east east; absent in the arid interior and along southern coast from south-western Western Australia to about Port Augusta in South Australia - Distribution outside Australia: southern New Guinea, some parts of Indonesia, Philippines, southern and eastern Asia, southern Europe and Central America.
