Shark Bay Mouse

Order Rodentia; Family Muridae; Scientific name: Pseudomys fieldi; Common name: Shark Bay Mouse; Alternative common name: Alice Springs Mouse – Distribution in Australia: the current natural distribution is confined to Bernier Island off Shark Bay coast; it has been successfully reintroduced to several other offshore islands such as Faure, North West and Doole off Western Australia’s west coast; it is extinct on the mainland, but sub fossil finds indicate that recent distribution encompassed much of southern half of WA, western South Australia and the south-western Northern Territory up to Alice Springs.
