Order Columbiformes; Family Columbidae (Pigeons & Doves) - Scientific name: Geophaps scripta; Common name: Squatter Pigeon – An adult with squabs (chicks) resting during the hottest part of the day - Distribution in Australia: eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales. Note: it is nowadays apparently common only in the northernmost part of its distribution range; being very rare in New South Wales
