Spotless Crake

Order Gruiformes; Family Rallidae (Rails, Coots & allies); Scientific name: Porzana tabuensis; Common name: Spotless Crake; Alternative common name: Sooty Crake – Distribution in Australia: throughout Tasmania and present in all mainland states from the Top End of the Northern Territory and Kimberley Region in northern Western Australia, through the broader southwest south of Kalbarri; on the eastern seaboard it is found on Cape York Peninsula in north-eastern Queensland and then ranges from north of the Tropic of Capricorn through New South Wales and Victoria, and through south-eastern South Australia west to Port Pirie - Distribution outside Australia: ranges from Luzon in the Philippines, through Indonesia and Papua New Guinea to Pacific Islands then south to New Zealand and Chatham Island.
