Common name: Blue-winged Kookaburra - Distribution in Australia: Subspecies: leachii is found in northern and eastern Australia from around Broome in Western Australia through northern third of the Northern Territory, through northern and eastern Queensland to south of Brisbane, rarely south to Byron Bay in New South Wales; other subspecies are found on in Western Australia and on the Melville Island off the Northern Territory - Distribution outside Australia: another subspecies is found in southern and eastern Papua New Guinea, and some adjacent islands.
