Order Passeriformes; Family Meliphagidae (Honeyeaters); Scientific name: Sugomel nigrum; Recent scientific name: Certhionyx niger; Common name: Black Honeyeater – Male - Distribution in Australia: present in all mainland states, especially in arid and semi-arid habitats; absent in the tropics, east of Great Dividing Range and in the south-west corner of Western Australia.
