Order Columbiformes; Family Columbidae (Pigeons & Doves); Scientific name: Ocyphaps lophotes; Common name: Crested Pigeon - Distribution in Australia: common and widespread in all mainland states; absent on Cape York Peninsula, in the broader south west south of Jurien and in the south east south of Sydney; though nomadic birds may be occasionally seen in these areas.
