Laughing Turtledove

Order Columbiformes; Family Columbidae (Pigeons & Doves) - Scientific name: Streptopelia senegalensis; Common name: Laughing Turtledove; Alternative common names: Laughing Dove of Senegal Dove – Squabs (chicks) out of nest - Distribution in Australia: found in south-western Australia, especially in a broad circle around Perth in Esperance and Kalgoorlie – Natural distribution outside Australia: most of Sub-Saharan Africa, Arabia, India, Afghanistan and Turkestan.  Note: It was first released in Perth ZOO in 1898.
