Family Eleotridae – Gudgeons; Scientific name: Butis butis; Common name: Crimson-tipped Gudgeon, or Crimson Tip Gudgeon – Distribution in Australia: a fish inhabiting brackish, mangrove estuaries and adjacent, lower reaches of freshwater streams between Port Hedland in Western Australia along the Northern Territory and Queensland coast to Clarence River in the north-eastern New South Wales – Also: widely distributed in Indo-west Pacific from East Africa to Papua New Guinea.
