Family Eleotridae – Gudgeons; Scientific name: Philypnodon grandiceps; Common name: Flathead Gudgeon – Distribution in Australia: common freshwater fish widely distributed in streams east and south of Great Dividing Range between Burdekin River in north-eastern Queensland through New South Wales and Victoria to Murray River estuary and Kangaroo Island in south-eastern South Australia; extending inland throughout Murray-Darling system; found also in northern Tasmania’s near coastal streams.
