Order Coleoptera; Family Curculionidae (Weevils); Subfamily Cyclominae; Tribe Amycterini; A provisional scientific name: Acantholophus sp. aff. maximus; Note: this specimen resembles Acantholophus maximus, and might actually be that species, but at the same time it differs enough to cast doubt on the accuracy of this identification; Common name: Broad-nosed Weevil – Distribution in Australia: Western Australian endemic species found in the broader South West north to about Mullewa and east to Bulla Bulling east of Coolgardie – Photographed: in December, in Mount Ridley Nature Reserve north of Esperance.
