Description
Order Diptera; Suborder Brachycera; Family Bombyliidae (Bee Flies); Subfamily: Anthracinae; Provisional scientific name: Villa sp. (WA – Yanchep NP); Common name: Bee Fly – Description: A dark fly with an unpatterned, almost black thorax; abdomen with two beige stripes divided by a broad, almost black stripe; terminal segments of the abdomen with alternate narrow black and broader light brown stripes; laterally there is a mantle of yellowish brown erect hairs extending around whole body and merging into a collar of the same colour; facial hairs between eyes grey; wings clear with brown costal cells and associated veins - Distribution in Australia: Western Australia – Photographed: in September, in Yanchep National Park north of Perth.
