Class Arachnida; Order Araneae; Infraorder Araneomorphae; Family Desidae (Intertidal & House Spiders); Scientific name: Badumna longinqua; Common name: Brown House Spider – Female - Distribution in Australia: widespread in Tasmania and eastern Australia from north-eastern Queensland to south-eastern South Australia and in south-western Western Australia; largely absent in the arid zone and the tropics – Introduced to: New Zealand, Japan, United States, Mexico and Uruguay - Photographed: in January, in Yeal Nature Reserve north of Perth, Western Australia.
