Order Rodentia; Family Muridae; Scientific name: Rattus sordidus; Common name: Canefiled Rat; Alternative common name: Sordid Rat  – Distribution in Australia: eastern Queensland from the northern tip of Cape York Peninsula to south-eastern Qld both east and west of the Great Dividing Range; also on islands of Sir Edward Pellew Group in the Northern Territory.
