Order Testudines; Family Chelidae (Australian Freshwater Turtles, or Side-necked Freshwater Turtles); Scientific name: Emydura subglobosa subsp. subglobosa;  Common name: Jardine River Turtle – Distribution in Australia: restricted to Jardine River catchment at the northern tip of Cape York Peninsula in north-eastern Queensland -  Distribution outside Australia: widely distributed throughout New Guinea.
