Order Testudines; Family Chelidae (Australian Freshwater Turtles, or Side-necked Freshwater Turtles); Scientific name: Chelodina colliei; Common name: South-west Long-necked, or Southwest Long Neck Turtle; Alternative common names: Oblong Turtle; Note about the name: Chelodina oblonga used to be since the second half of nineteenth century, apparently erroneously, applied to this species hence the alternative common name Oblong Turtle; this is, however, quite confusing, as the epithet oblonga is nowadays applied to a different species - Sunbathing – Distribution in Australia: Western Australian endemic turtle found in broader South-west of WA.
